Governor's visit
New governor of Sverdlovsk Region Alexander Misharin continues to get into details about the region's economic network. Last week he visited such industrial towns as Kachkanar, Lesnoi and Serov.
Kachkanar is one of the region's mining and ore processing centers. Citizens of all three towns expressed similar worries concerning rising costs of electricity and gas, hot water and heating, and the coming celebration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the World War II.
The governor also visited Nizhnyaya Tura, where two children died of viral infection in the orphanage.
Orphans'death
Two children died due to acute viral infection in the Nizhnyaya Tura orphanage in the Sverdlovsk region. Another nine children were urgently hospitalized. 33 kids were infected in total.
The orphanage of Nizhnyaya Tura gives home to 147 children aged 6 to 15 with heavy affections of central nervous system. All children who fell sick were lying patients. Investigators are now looking into the details of the case and interviewing staff members of the orphanage.
Tatyana Merzlyakova, children's rights commissioner in the Sverdlovsk Region, also paid a visit to Nizhnyaya Tura in regard to the lethal cases.
Forthcoming elections
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, came to Ekaterinburg to meet with the partys voters before elections. He also prepared a lecture entitled "Problems and Ways of Humanization of the World Economy" for UrGU students. The political leader also roughly criticized those state officials who were in charge of preparing the Russian team for the Winter Olympics this year.
