Sergey Mironov's visit
Sergey Mironov, speaker of the Council of the Federation and the chairman of the political party "Fair Russia" arrived in Ekaterinburg on February 26, 2010.
The visit's program was quite intense. Sergey Mironov inspected the situation with shabby houses in the Ekaterinburg, participated in a protest meeting against high utilities tariffs, met with the electorate and suggested to re-consider the structure of the regional government and its staff.
Vyacheslav Volodin's visit
Governor of Sverdlovsk Region met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia. They visited the town of Sysert and Patrushi village where the local industrial giant, UMMC-Holding, owns an agricultural farm.
In Ekaterinburg high profile officials held a meeting with the voters in the reception office of United Russia.
Tanks in the woods
Local citizens accidentally found over 200 T-72 tanks in the forest. The discovery was made in the proximity of a military base near the village Kalininskoe.
Combat equipment was found covered in snow and completely unguarded. Manholes of the tanks were open and anyone could easily get inside the vehicles. Military base administration reports that the tanks were being transported to a new location, but the prosecutor service started checking out the incident anyway.
