Politically-charged dark comedy Moliere: The Cabal of Hypocrites (Rus. - Khabala Svyatosh).
On the surface, this Russian work by the famous author of The Master and Margarita concerns itself with the personal and political problems that plagued French playwright Moliere. The author, however, certainly wrote the work with the plight of the mid-century Soviet artist in mind. Its provocative look at the eternal conflict between artistic freedom and censorship, however, transcends all historical periods.

Khanuma by Avksenti Tsagareli (1857-1902), a well-known Georgian comediographer and dramatist.
One of the most interesting pages of Georgian music history is connected with Victor Dolidze's name. He is known as the author of the first Georgian comic opera. This genre determined his creative work. Victor Dolidze was gifted with all the features so essential for a composer and dramatist: talent, temperament, sharp feeling of theatricality, ability to create distinguished musical and scenic characters and situations. He is the first Georgian composer to include humorous, comic and satirical elements into Georgian music. Khanuma is the immortal image of the Tbilisi.

Bulbul was a famous Azerbaijani opera and folk music performer and one of the founders of vocal arts and national musical theatre in Azerbaijan.
In his songs, Bulbul was able to blend national manners of performance with traditions of Italian vocal school. He was also first to play the lead role of Koroglu in Uzeyir Hajibeyov's opera of the same name in 1938.
Bulbul was awarded the highest order of the Soviet Union – the USSR State Prize, as well as the Stella di Garibaldi order in Italy.
His son Polad Bulbuloglu is also an accomplished singer and actor, and is the current Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia.
Ballet based on the Azerbaijan epic story Dede-Gorgud.

The Barber of Seville, or The Useless Precaution (Il barbiere di Siviglia, ossia L'inutile precauzione) is based on the play had previously been composed by Giovanni Paisiello, and another was composed in 1796 by Nicolas Isouard.
Though the work of Paisiello triumphed for a time, Rossini's later version alone has stood the test of time and continues to be a mainstay of operatic repertoire.
The libretto of this masterpiece is founded on Beaumarchais’ comedy of the same name. It was prepared by the poet Sterbini, who lived in the same house with Rossini while the work was in progress.

Ekaterinburg Gallery of Modern Art
Contact: Wind and Fire
The exhibition assembled at the Modern Art Gallery in Ekaterinburg under the auspices of the Public Affairs Section of the General Consulate of the United States in Ekaterinburg features art forms that transcend national origin and reveal elemental art.
In Contact: Wind and Fire, a collection of 28 sculptures and 40 graphics, fifteen international artists lead visitors into the expansive realm of the artistic imagination. Among these fifteen are featured the American-born artists Patricia Goodrich and Ron Keefer, and immigrant artists to the United States. The Russian traditions of modern art are presented with works of the renowned local artists who represent the cream of a dynamic movement in the Ural.
The work of several artists from the Ural region has now been incorporated into the exhibit, which originally opened in Vladivostok in 2008.
The exhibition runs till October 5, Monday.

The Museum of Photography - The House of Metenkov
The Berlin Wall
Photoexhibition: 20 years since the fall of the Wall. The exhibition is organized by the Moscow House of Photography under the auspices of the Moscow City Culture Department and Germany Consulate General in Ekaterinburg.
At the exhibition visitors will enjoy works of the American photographer Anthony Suau who witnessed this historical event of global significance (November 10-14, 1989). 20 years later, Germany, Europe and the whole world look back, in order to look forward. Thanks to the peaceful revolution and the Fall of the Wall, not only were millions of people united: Germany was, too. And the balance between East and West was re-established.

Adam Klipple & Jim Beatty - U.S. Jazz
Adam Klipple, who has been described as a standout pianist who has gone to school on McCoy Tyner and Cecil Taylor and earned his degree, plays piano, Hammond organ, sampler and a variety of vintage keyboards. He performs with and composes for two of his own groups. His piano quartet, the AK4, plays his “derangements” of traditional standards and popular songs, as well as original compositions inspired by Brazilian, latin, West African, and Turkish music. Drive-By Leslie, his Hammond organ quartet, explores many styles of electric jazz from the organ trio to the present. In addition to his personal endeavors, Adam recently contributed electronica loops and backdrops for Craig Harris’ multimedia jazz and dance project, Brown Butterfly.
In September-October 2004 he gave concerts all across the country. The band toured Russia as Jazz Ambassadors for the first time in 2003, on a tour sponsored by the Kennedy Center and the U.S. Department of State. They performed to sold-out, enthusiastic crowds in Tver, Nizhniy Novgorod, and Ekaterinburg.
James William Beatty was given a clarinet for his eighth birthday and has been playing ever since. He has traveled the globe to play his music with such energy, enthusiasm and purity of sound that he was recently acclaimed "the eminent jazz soloist of the XXIst century" by critics here and abroad. A label well deserved.
Jim not only shares his love and knowledge of jazz and it's history with other musicians both young and old, but it spills out in every tune he plays! The editor of Jazz Soundings Magazine once summed up Jim very well both as a man and a musician: "He'll go anywhere, anytime to make music and play until there is no one left to keep up with him. Jim's a special person, a special musician, and a joy.
