The play resembles an acrobatic stunt, which has many unexpected twists and turns up until the end and it is artfully crafted; it presents Alexander Amilcar, a man with a boosted ego who has never been very successful in his interpersonal relationships, and especially with the opposite sex. In his effort to be happy, he assembles his own ideal microcosm and hires an actress for the part of the “ideal wife”, a young harlot for his “daughter” and an unemployed artist to be his old family friend. Things, however, escape his control very quickly.

The Kolyada Theatre

Hamlet
Famous performance staged by the Kolyada Theatre. Director Nikolay Kolyada drops Shakespeare's tragic prince into a primitive society where people are led by animal instincts. The contrast highlights the evils of the modern world. Kolyada has a name for producing provocative work. In Hamlet he turns people into wild beasts who can hardly articulate human sounds and asks a simple question: “Has there been any progress since the Stone Age?”

Exhibition
Horst Janssen Exhibition
The German Consulate General, the German Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (IFA) and the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts present an exhibition of works of the renowned German artist Horst Janssen, who mainly focused on etchings.
Horst Janssen (1929 - 1995) is regarded as one of the major as well as most prolific German graphic artists of the present. In this IFA exhibition, more than 130 etchings are presented, put together in accordance with chronological and thematic aspects, allowing an understanding of his artistry in this field from the end of the 1950s to the mid-1970's.
Selected works were taken from his two series with the titles Hokusai's Walk and Carneval di Venezia as well as single works from various work periods of this artist. His preferred issues for etchings includes both landscapes and landscape associations, which Janssen combines with plant and animal structures, and his own facial features.
Ekaterinburg will be the "last stop" of the IFA - exhibition, that has toured worldwide for 19 years, including calls at major European, Asian and South American cities. In the past 2 years, the exhibition toured in CIS countries, including Belarus, Ukraine and Armenia.
The exhibition will be open to the public 2 - 27 September at the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts:

Sergei Rogozhkin Personal Photo Exhibition The City Dam. Take the Moment Unawares

The Museum of Photography - The House of Metenkov
The museum of photography presents the Italian photo exhibition Italy: 1946-2006. From the Reconstruction till Millennium and Pier Paolo Pasolini: I came back in summer.
The exhibition is based on the photo collection of CRAF (Italy) and displayed for the first time in Ekaterinburg.
The project coordinator is Andrey Martynov, GM of the Moscow Biennial exhibition of Modern Art.

Volkhonka Theatre - Sergey Paramonov Personal Exhibition
In the lobby and theatre cafeteria was opened a display of works by Ekaterinburg artist Sergey Paramonov. The paintings are executed in a unique technique of "three-dimensional painting" which the artist has been applying since 1999. A distinguishing feature of Paranonov is the combination of painting and props. He found his inimitable style while working with settings and props at Drama Theatre and Sverdlovsk cinema studio.

Modern Art Festival Art-Zavod
Modern art festival Art-Zavod includes special selected video installations, exhibition of modern art works, light & video shows.
30 artists from Russia, CIS countries and Europe present interactive graphics installation. Among artists are Vladimir Tarasov (Lithuania), Leonid Tishkov (Moscow, Russia), Ilya Trushevsky (St.Petersburg, Russia), Kilian Kretschmer, Thorsen Schwanninger (Germany), Alan Gingoux (Great Britain).
Local artists from Ekaterinburg, Perm, Nizhny Tagil and Chelyabinsk are going to cover plant’s walls with graffiti.
Dutch video artist Edwin van de Heide presents to Ekaterinburg audience a light & video show along with performances of local music bands.
Short film program includes 1960-1970s rare works of Peter Weibel, artist, curator and theoretician, who worked in following categories: Conceptual Art, Performance, Experimental Film, Video art and Computer art.
Modern Art Festival Art-Zavod starts its work on August 27th, Thursday on the territory of a former Sverdlovsk worsted production facility.
