Dead Souls (Rus. – Mertvye Dushi) - Opening Night
In commemoration of the Sverdlovsk Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy’s birthday, film composer Alexander Pantykin & author of scenarios, music and arrangements to a number of performances Konstantin Rubinsky presents: Dead Souls based on Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol’s novel.
Description
Gogol himself called Dead Souls as an "epic poem in prose" or a "novel in verse".
The story follows the exploits of Chichikov, a gentleman of middling social class and position. Chichikov arrives in a small town and quickly tries to make a good name for himself by impressing the many petty officials of the town. Despite his limited funds, he spends extravagantly on the premise that a great show of wealth and power at the start will gain him the connections he needs to live easily in the future. He also hopes to be friend the town so that he can more easily carry out his bizarre and mysterious plan to acquire "dead souls."
Dead Souls is a feverish anatomy of Russian society and human wiles.

Description
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is an absurdist, existentialist tragicomedy by English genius Tom Stoppard. The play expands upon the exploits of two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Major themes of the play include existentialism, free will vs. determinism, the search for value, and the impossibility of certainty. As with many of Tom Stoppard's works, the play has a love for cleverness and language. It treats language as a confounding system fraught with ambiguity. Thanks to Stoppard, the play has become as well-known as the original.

City One Minutes – Ekaterinburg
The One Minutes Foundation (Netherlands), City Administration, and Ekaterinburg Academy of Modern Art present: City one minutes (Ekaterinburg).
Description
How to deal with sixty seconds of freedom? The One Minutes exhibition shows sel ections of the best one minute videos.
The One Minutes is a Dutch initiative which has spread around the world. It stimulates the making and dissemination of videos of exactly one minute. The annual competition has a strong international character and by now The One Minutes Foundation manages an archive with 10,000 works from over 100 countries. It has become a new art form, building bridges between high and low culture between western en non-western art.
In collaboration with City Administration and Ekaterinburg Academy of Modern Art, an exhibition has been compiled, presenting sel ections of the best one minute videos from 90 countries. Also visitors may enjoy special presentations and workshops.
Next to the event a 10 days one minute’s workshop for Ekaterinburg art students will take place.

Russian Aristocrats Serving the Motherland
Description
The Regional Natural History Museum holds photo exposition devoted to Russian aristocrats in XIX-XX centuries, including the First World War. Photographer Alexey Petukhov is using unique technique for its works – lead photos. Among the displayed photos one may enjoy photos of the fancy-dress ball in Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg (1903).
