Description
In the framework of a joints U.S.-Russia project, the Sverdlovsk Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy and U.S. General Consulate in Ekaterinburg present: Paul Winter (saxophone) and ensemble Emerald (Ekaterinburg).
Award-winning saxophonist, bandleader, composer, explorer of the world's musical traditions and founder of Living Music and the Paul Winter Consort, Paul Winter has been motivated for the past thirty years by the vision of a musical-ecological community, and has followed a steady course towards his unique «Earth Music,» a vital celebration of the creatures and cultures of the whole Earth.
Paul's musical realm has long embraced the traditions of many of the world's cultures, interweaving widely diverse instruments and elements with the extraordinary, including wolves, whales, eagles, and several dozen other species of «wilderness musicians.»

Three Days in Blue
Tad Robinson & Alex Schultz
Description
Blues singers Alex Schultz (guitar) and Tad Robinson (vocal, harmonica) give three concerts in Ekaterinburg – April 9-11.
Alex Schultz is a five-time Blues Music Awards winner. He also nominated Blues Awards 2009. Collaboration with his friend Tad Robinson has resulted in many recordings and tours.
Tad Robinson’s Chicago band had a weekly gig as the house band at Rosas for three years and also played venues like Buddy Guys Legends, The Chicago Blues Festival, B.L.U.E.S., The Wise Fools Pub, and many others. Tad was nominated for a blues music award in the category Soul/Blues Male Artist of the Year. This is Tad's fifth nomination.
Alex Schultz and Tad Robinson are going to present a wonderful mix of soul-blues, classical and modern blues.

Ural Dixieland
Description
In 1970 trumpeter Igor Burko established a jazz band in Chelyabinsk. In 1970-1980s the jazz band gave concerts in Chelyabinsk Philharmonic Hall and played on countrywide tours. They performed jazz and variety shows. Shows usually had a number of parts where different styles of jazz music were presented including even stage adaptation!
In 1978 the jazz band was headed by pianist and arranger Oleg Plotnikov. In 1980s the band took part in many jazz concerts in USSR and Western Europe.

The Marriage of Figaro
Description
On Ekaterinburg’s stage the famous masterpiece of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart «The Marriage of Figaro or the Day of Madness» is an opera buffa (comic opera) composed in 1786 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with Italian libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais, La folle journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro (1784).
Although the play by Beaumarchais was at first banned in Vienna because of its satire of the aristocracy, considered as dangerous in the decade before the French revolution, the opera became one of Mozart's most successful works. The overture is especially famous and is often played as a concert piece. The musical material of the overture is not used later in the work, aside from a brief phrase during the Count's aria.

Description
Georgy Shenderev’s music for domra (Russian stringed folk instrument) opens the event. His songs are very close to contemporary music. Georgy Shenderev has a unique feeling for folk music mixing successfully lyrics and daring songs. The concert is performed by the soloist Olga Elkina (domra).
The following performance is played by Oleg Sokolov, winner of Republican contest. He presents concert for a button accordion written by Repnikov.
Rosauro opens the second part with the concert for marimba. Native Rio de Janeiro stirring tunes are performed by Andrey Alexeev (percussion).
The final part is the mix of classic music and jazz tunes that determined name of the concert. Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin, 1924) is performed by the prize-winner of international contests Nadezhda Olshvang (piano).

Description
Unique exhibition opens in museum of the Ural artist Starik Bukashkin that is located at the Ural State University (UrGU). Among displays are pictures made on rubber sheet and old-fashion Ural decorated mats presented along with contemporary artists’ works.
Starik Bukahkin (Old Man Bukashkin) is a founder of the city folklore in the Ural, decorated chopping plates and old-fashion wooden books.
Exhibition is held within the scope of a research work of Ural art in XX century made by department of fine arts and culturology of the Ural State University.
Exhibition opens every Wednesday (15:00-18:00) and Saturday (11:00 – 15:00).
