Part of Duke Albert: Mikhal Stipa, National Theatre of Prague
The play is based on classical stage direction of Lavrovsky. Considered one of the great Romantic ballets, Giselle is about a simple peasant girl who is betrayed by love. She goes mad and dies of a broken heart. She becomes a ghost and is ordered to destroy the man who caused her pain, although she is still deeply in love with him. The ballet deals with the powerful forces of nature, including forest spirits and death. The second act is referred to as the «white act» because everyone is wearing white. In the end, undying love triumphs over betrayal and death.

The Tsar's Bride (Rus. – Tsarskaya Nevesta)
Opening Night
The Ekaterinburg State Opera and Ballet House is getting ready for the first night of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Tsar's Bride. It is noteworthy that the decorations are to be made created according to the original scenography and following the traditions of the 1950s - 1960s. The theatre's property men assure that The Tsar's Bride in Ekaterinburg is going to be more vivid than in the Bolshoi Theatre.
For example, fabric for the costumes was bought in a church shop in Moscow. People working in the sewing workshop say that only church brocade could successfully imitate tsar's clothes.

Sergey Smirnov’s Eccentric Ballet
Sergey Smirnov’s Eccentric Ballet is the multiple winner in the dance category for The Golden Mask Awards. Sergei Smirnov and his production of Clay Wind (Rus. – Glinyaniy Veter) made huge success in Moscow and St.Petersburg.
Smirnov was named Best Choreographer, and his show was declared Best Contemporary Dance piece. The performance is dedicated to 15th anniversary of the ballet.

Balzaminov's Wedding
Opening Night
Considered the founder of Russian national drama, Ostrovsky (1823-1886) was the first playwright to depict on the stage the ordinary merchants, government bureaucrats and other middle-class denizens of Moscow and the Volga River region.
Ostrovsky wrote some 50 plays. Together these make up what could be described as a chronicle of the Russian life of the 1840s to 1880s.
Balzaminov’s Wedding (1861) presents the story of a poor young government official, Balzaminov, noted neither for his intelligence nor his good looks. With the help of a matchmaker and his mother, he tries to find a rich bride. On the path to fulfilling his dream, Balzaminov gets involved in the most improbable situations.

Mezzotint: Art Interchange
The exhibition of handmade mezzotint engravings (manera negra): Art Interchange. The U.S. Consulate General sponsors the exhibition.
At the exhibition visitors may enjoy unique and magnificent metal engravings produced by a technique called «mezzotint.»
The mezzotint printmaking method was invented by the Dutch amateur artist Ludwig von Siegen (1609-1680). His earliest mezzotint print dates to 1642 and is a portrait of Amelia Elizabeth, Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel). This was made by working from light to dark. Today only 500 graphic artists in the world use mezzotint.

Concerts
Russian Rock-Band Mumiy Troll (Moscow – Vladivostok)
Mumiy Troll (Му́мий Тро́лль) is a Russian rock group, founded in 1981 in Vladivostok by linguist Ilia Lagutenko (Илья Лагутенко). The literal name of the band, mummy troll, has no specific meaning in Russian, and is reminiscent of the Tove Jansson characters, the Moomintrolls.
Mumiy Troll began as a garage band during the last years of the Soviet Union. They gained immense popularity with the release of their first (official) album Morskaya (Морская, Marine) in May 1997, which showcased a combination of melodic hard rock and Lagutenko's offbeat lyrics and coy, androgynous performance style. The second CD Ikra (Икра, Caviar), followed seven months later, and was equally successful.
Mumiy Troll has a significant following in Scandinavia, and the band performed at the No Name Fever exhibition for AIDS in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2005.
