International Day for Monuments & Sites

The International Day for Monuments and Sites, initiated by ICOMOS, with the support of UNESCO, in 1982, is being organised in many countries of the world. It is, however, less known in Russia and, particularly, in the Ural.

The aim of this event is to focus public attention to preservation of historic villages, sites and monuments in the Ural.

It should be mentioned that there are more than 600 monuments of cultural heritage and historic places, 14 historic towns and 36 historic settlements in the Sverdlovsk region. On that particular day excursions and tours to the Ural historic places are organized.
