The railroad divides Bogdanovich into north and south parts. At the north part, Kunara River serves as the boundary between villages Glukhovo and Averino. The south part of Bogdanovich consists mainly with multi-story buildings. It’s the administrative and cultural center of the town. At the outskirts there are many one-storey wooden houses. Main plants were built in the area between the railroad and Kunara River.
Bogdanovich emerged in 1883-1885 as a railway station during the construction of the Ekaterinburg - Tyumen railway.
Initially, at its place was a small station named Averino, which soon renamed in honor of General Yevgeny V. Bogdanovich (1832-1914). He was a prospector and railway builder, who in the early XXth century was the initiator and railway planner of the Kazan-Ekaterinburg-Tyumen railway. General Bogdanovich became an honorary citizen of Tyumen and Ekaterinburg.
Later, in 1911-1914, two railway lines were built – to the north and to the south. Bogdanovich became an important railway junction. After the Russian Revolution, on August 15th, 1924, Bogdanovich region was established. The center of the new region was the village Troizkoe. In June 1931, the Bogdanovich and Kurinsky regions were consolidated and in 1944 Bogdanovich region emerged with the town Bogdanovich as its center. Today it includes area of 1498 square kilometers and 40 settlements.

Bogdanovich has two main plants – “Ogneupory” which is famous for its refractory products and serves as an economic base of town and the Bogdanovich china factory.
The Bogdanovich china factory is a relatively new plant that was built in 1973. Now it is one of the largest in Russia. The emblem of the plant is the famous “Lizard in the crown” (drawn from the fairy tales “The owner of Mount Copper” by the famous Ural writer Pavel Bazhov), which later became a symbol of the modern Ural.
In the eve of the Second World War Bogdanovich developed as an intermediate center of perishable agricultural products processing. In 1931 a meat-packing plant was launched and in 1932 a milk plant was opened.
Bogdanovich highly developed during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). At that time, the whole town was built up with so-called “Stalin-style” buildings.
The central square of the town and the building of business commerce and the cultural center were made in the ornamental and classical style. Among the monuments that symbolized the socialist epoch one may see Lenin’s monument on the central square, the “ceramic industry” school and the Art School. They represent the empire style in architecture.
